Downtown Colfax has a unique hands-on creative opportunity coming up this June — a beginner-friendly workshop in the ancient craft of wet felting.

In this three-hour class, participants will learn to wet felt loose wool fibers over a resist — a shaping tool that gives the felt its form — to create a small, one-of-a-kind purse or pouch. Students will explore each stage of the felting process, learning how agitation, water, and fiber work together to build a strong, sturdy material. Along the way, you’ll add your own personal touch using a variety of fiber embellishments to create a design that’s entirely your own.

No prior experience is needed, and all materials are provided.

Wet felting is a meditative, tactile process that connects makers to one of the oldest textile traditions in the world — and leaves you with something beautiful and functional to take home. A wonderful way to spend a Saturday afternoon in the heart of Historic Downtown Colfax.
