Fermented Vegetables at Home Workshop

Jars of homemade sauerkraut and pickled vegetables made during a fermentation workshop in Historic Downtown Colfax, California

Tuesday, June 30, 2026 | 6–8pm 38 N. Main Street (rear unit), Colfax, CA Tuition: $50 | Materials: $20 | Total: $70

Downtown Colfax has a hands-on fermentation workshop coming up this June — a beginner-friendly evening class that will send you home with the skills and the jars to keep going on your own.

In this two-hour introduction to lacto-fermentation, participants will make three classic fermented vegetables from scratch: sauerkraut, pickled cauliflower, and pickled carrots. You’ll explore the simple techniques and science behind home fermentation — what’s actually happening in the jar, what you need to get started, and how to troubleshoot common questions along the way.

Every participant takes home three jars of fermented vegetables they made themselves, ready to continue fermenting at home.

No prior experience is needed, and all materials are provided.

Whether you’ve been curious about fermentation for a while or are ready to finally give it a try, this small-group class offers a welcoming and practical place to start — right in the heart of Historic Downtown Colfax.

Only 4 spots available — register early to secure yours.
