Historic Downtown Colfax Annual 3rd of July Celebration

Parade float traveling through Historic Downtown Colfax during the 3rd of July Celebration.

The Annual 3rd of July Celebration is coming to Historic Downtown Colfax, and this year it’s extra special — we’re celebrating America’s 250th!

Bring your family and friends out for a festive night featuring craft and food vendors, a lively beer & wine garden, and a FREE Kids Zone packed with activities to keep the little ones entertained. Throughout the evening, you can also join in on games, contests, and more, making it easy for everyone to get involved.

Two Parades, Twice the Fun
The Colfax Lions Club presents this year’s parade. Lineup starts at 6:15 PM at E Oak & S Auburn St, with the parade rolling at 7 PM. The route runs Oak & South Auburn to Grass Valley St, Culver St, Church St, Rising Sun, back down Grass Valley St, and finishes on Railroad Ave — note that the parade will not be on S Main St this year. One quick rule from the Lions Club: candy can be passed out along the route, but not thrown. Questions? Call Red at 530-362-0434.

All Aboard
No Colfax event is complete without a train ride, and the California Dream Express is rolling into town for the occasion. The station is set up right in front of the Colfax Hotel on Railroad St. — easy to find, hard to resist.

Say Hi to the Highland Cows
Red White & Moos is bringing their famous cow cuddles to Colfax as part of their “Two Great Days” tour celebrating America’s 250th. Come meet their star-spangled Highland cows and get a photo (or a cuddle) in before they head to El Dorado County for the 4th.

What’s to Eat
Downtown will be lined with food and treats all night: Cocos Creamery, Lit Lemonade, Rainbow Snow, Kettle King, Cowtown Creamery, Bursting Boba, California Shaved Ice, and What’s Popping on the sweets side; Cousins Main Lobster, Drewskies Tacos, Bacondogge & More, Red Dog BBQ, Grajedas Mexican Food, Aroma Concessions BBQ, Hefty Gyros, The Fry Boys, The Salty Twist, Baked Smashed & Fried, and Coyote Pizza on the savory side. Basement Pizza and The Colfax Bistro will also be open for business.

Live Music
Malarkey takes the stage behind the caboose at Roy Tom Plaza, playing two sets — 4 to 6 PM and 8 to 9 PM.

Parking & Free Shuttle
Skip the downtown scramble and park at Colfax Elementary School or Colfax High School (24825 and 24995 Ben Taylor Road). A free shuttle runs 5 PM to 11 PM, with pickup and drop-off at Grass Valley Street & Culver Street, at the Placer County Sheriff’s Station. Heads up: downtown Colfax closes to incoming traffic at 6:30 PM, so plan to arrive early or catch the shuttle.

Fireworks
The night closes out with a fireworks show over Colfax, lighting up the sky to send off the celebration.

Downtown Colfax, 3 PM to 10 PM.
