Veterans Memorial Mural
Honoring Military History in Colfax, CA
The Service Mural Wall is one of Colfax’s newest and most striking pieces of public art, located on the exterior of the Colfax Veterans Memorial Hall on Sunset Circle. Created by a team of seven local volunteer artists, the large-scale black-and-white mural series honors every branch of the United States Armed Forces and is free to view anytime you’re in the neighborhood.
The wall features six murals, each representing a military branch — Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard, and Space Force — with each branch’s official service seal mounted directly on its mural. A seventh piece, titled “Night Watch,” is located in the stairwell and depicts a World War I soldier carrying a lantern, a quiet and moving tribute to the idea that each generation keeps the flame of service alive.
The murals were created by Bronwyn Arcand, Judy Cochran, Jamie Edson, Kathleen Kiefer, Foxey McCleary, Glenn Ridge, and Katharine Tetrault, and were dedicated in a community ceremony on Veterans Day 2025.
