Colfax Veterans Memorial Hall
The Colfax Veterans Memorial Hall, located at 22 Sunset Circle in Colfax, California, stands as a proud tribute to the service members who have sacrificed so much for their country. Nestled in the heart of Placer County, this historic building has become a gathering place for veterans and the local community — a symbol of honor, memory, and continuity in the Sierra Foothills.
History of Colfax Veterans Memorial Hall
Built in the early 1950s, the Colfax Veterans Memorial Hall was established in the post-World War II era to serve the veterans returning home and to honor all those who had served in the U.S. Armed Forces. The Hall has since been a hub for veteran reunions, memorial services, fundraisers, civic events, and community gatherings of all kinds. Over the decades, its core mission has remained the same: to honor the men and women who served in the U.S. military and to provide a welcoming space for the Colfax community.
Role in the Local Community
In addition to veteran-related activities, the Hall has welcomed the broader Colfax community for decades — from dances and fundraisers to county immunization clinics and private celebrations. Its location overlooking much of downtown Colfax makes it a convenient and beloved gathering place for locals.
Honoring Military History in Colfax, CA
The Hall plays a crucial part in keeping Colfax’s military history alive. Veterans from World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and more recent conflicts are commemorated here, with the stories of local heroes who served across every branch of the military honored within and around the building.
In November 2025, the Hall unveiled a striking new addition to its exterior — the Service Mural Wall. The breathtaking black-and-white mural is a multi-artist collaboration honoring every branch of the United States Armed Forces, standing as a powerful symbol of courage, sacrifice, and community pride. The project grew out of a desire to revitalize the Hall and draw more veterans to its doors, with support from the Hall board, the American Legion, the VFW, and the VFW Auxiliary. The mural was dedicated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Veterans Day 2025, featuring a Color Guard presentation by Eagle Scouts, remarks from American Legion Post 192 Commander Rick Tetrault, and a presentation by Congressman Kevin Kiley.
Go by and check it out anytime. It’s a beautiful mural.
