Downtown Colfax has a specialized fiber arts workshop coming up this July — a hands-on evening class designed for spinners, felters, and wool crafters who are ready to take their creative practice a step further.
Fiber prep is one of the most transformative skills a wool crafter can add to their toolkit, and this class covers the essentials: handling raw fleeces, color blending, adding texture, and more. The centerpiece of the evening is the drum carder — a tool that opens up a whole new world of creative possibilities for working with natural fibers.
Each participant will design and blend their own custom batt using a colorful selection of wool, alpaca, and mohair to take home and use in their next fiber project. Whether that’s spinning, felting, or something else entirely, you’ll leave with a one-of-a-kind creation and the skills to make more.
No prior experience is necessary, and all materials are provided.
If you’ve been curious about what goes into fiber prep — or you’re simply ready to expand what’s possible in your fiber work — this is a great place to dig in, right in the heart of Historic Downtown Colfax.
Space is limited — register early to secure your spot.
