Learn to Stitch: Embroidery 101 Absolute Beginner Workshop at Craftfolk Collective in Historic Downtown Colfax

This event has ended

Sometimes the most meaningful things are the simplest — a needle, some thread, and a little time to slow down. Craftfolk Collective is hosting an Embroidery 101 beginner workshop this May, and it’s exactly the kind of Tuesday evening you didn’t know you needed.

Join founder and instructor Gretchen Boyce on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 for a hands-on introduction to the art of hand embroidery. No experience needed, no pressure — just good company, creative energy, and the satisfying rhythm of needle and thread.

What You’ll Learn

This workshop is designed for absolute beginners and focuses on the foundational stitches that form the backbone of hand embroidery. You’ll work through the basic running stitch, the practical back stitch, and the deeply satisfying satin stitch — building confidence and technique with each one.

By the end of the evening you’ll leave with a working knowledge of basic embroidery techniques and a started sampler to take home and continue at your own pace.

What You’ll Take Home

Every participant works on their own embroidery hoop throughout the class and leaves with everything they need to keep going:

  • Your in-progress embroidery sampler
  • Your embroidery hoop
  • A needle and thread kit
  • A printed stitch reference guide to support your practice at home

All materials are provided. No prior experience is needed — just show up ready to stitch.
