Downtown Colfax has a hands-on cheesemaking workshop coming up this July — a beginner-friendly morning class that walks you through the timeless process of making fresh goat’s milk chèvre from scratch.
In this two-hour introduction to fresh cheesemaking, participants will learn to make chèvre using simple ingredients and traditional techniques, exploring what makes goat’s milk cheese so uniquely delicious and approachable for the home kitchen. The class walks through the full process from start to finish — no guesswork, no shortcuts, just the real thing.
Each student will make two finished cheeses: a classic chèvre and a second variation of your own choosing, either sweet or savory to suit your taste. You’ll also learn how to wrap and present your finished cheeses for storage or gifting — a skill as useful as the cheesemaking itself.
You’ll leave with two cheeses you made yourself, the knowledge to keep making chèvre at home, and plenty of ideas for how to enjoy and share them.
All levels are welcome, and all materials are provided.
A lovely way to spend a Saturday morning in Historic Downtown Colfax — and a delicious one at that.
Space is limited — register early to secure your spot.
