This hands-on jewelry making class in Colfax, California introduces participants to the fundamentals of beading and jewelry assembly while guiding them through the process of creating a beautiful pair of brass beaded hoop earrings. Whether you are completely new to jewelry making or simply curious about working with beads and metal findings, this workshop offers a supportive and creative environment to learn new skills.

Students will learn foundational techniques such as working with beads and findings, assembling jewelry components, and finishing a polished pair of earrings. Each participant will have the opportunity to select their own bead colors, allowing every pair of earrings to reflect individual style and creativity. By the end of the workshop, participants will leave with a finished pair of handmade earrings ready to wear or gift.

The class is taught by Teresa Gibson of Creature of Habitat, an artist inspired by the natural beauty of the Sierra Nevada foothills. Teresa brings over ten years of jewelry-making experience and incorporates materials such as brass, seed beads, natural crystals, leather, and botanicals into her work. Her designs reflect the earthy colors and textures of the foothills—rusty canyon soil, slate, manzanita reds, and soft green lichens.

Teresa’s work blends craftsmanship with the organic character of natural materials. Through thoughtful design and careful technique, she creates jewelry that captures small moments of nature and transforms them into wearable pieces of art. In this workshop, she shares her skills and creative approach, helping students gain both confidence and inspiration in their own jewelry making.

This small-group workshop has limited space with only four spots available, allowing for individualized guidance and hands-on instruction.

All materials are included, and participants will also receive basic tools needed to continue practicing these techniques at home. No prior jewelry-making experience is required.
