Cal Fire Station 30: Battalion 13 Headquarters for Fire and Rescue

Why CAL FIRE Colfax Station 30 is Different from County Stations

Colfax Station 30, the Battalion Headquarters for Battalion 13, stands out due to its specialized role in managing wildland fires and high-risk incidents that involve hazardous areas like the Interstate 80 Corridor, UP Railway, and the Kinder Morgan Pipeline. This station, originally built in the 1930s and rebuilt in 2006, is uniquely equipped to handle complex fire and emergency situations. It’s also home to the Placer County Technical Rescue Team, which services rugged terrains and recreation areas like the North Fork of the American River.

Compared to Placer County’s community-based stations, Station 30 addresses large-scale incidents that require state resources and specialized equipment. Placer County fire stations, like Station 36, focus on structural fires and local emergencies. However, CAL FIRE stations manage broader threats, including vast wildland areas where wildfire risk is higher. Having both state and county fire services ensures comprehensive protection for Colfax, offering specialized responses to a wide range of emergency scenarios. We are fortunate to have such a robust network of fire stations surrounding us, ready to respond
