About Us: Historic Colfax Downtown Association

We are in the process of forming a nonprofit organization dedicated to securing private funding and grants to revitalize and preserve the unique history and charm of Colfax. Our mission is to preserve Colfax’s rich heritage while fostering economic growth through the enhancement of downtown businesses, particularly along Main Street. The Historic Colfax Downtown Association was founded with the goal of leading the transformation of our historic town, which has deep roots in the railroad and Gold Rush eras.

As a town that once served as a vital junction for the Central Pacific Railroad, Colfax played an important role in connecting the Sierra Nevada to the Sacramento Valley during California’s Gold Rush. With this proud history in mind, our association is committed to preserving the character of Colfax while providing modern opportunities for business development and community engagement. By tapping into both public and private funding, we aim to enhance the downtown area, making it a vibrant, bustling destination for locals and visitors alike.

Partnership with the City, Chamber of Commerce, and County Representatives

Our goal is to work closely with the City of Colfax, collaborating with the City Council, City Manager, and other officials to ensure that our revitalization efforts align with the city’s long-term plans for growth. Our initiatives, such as infrastructure improvements, historic preservation projects, and business development programs, are coordinated to benefit both the local economy and the quality of life for Colfax residents.

The Colfax Chamber of Commerce is another vital partner, helping us attract new businesses and support existing ones. Together, we aim to foster a vibrant local economy by creating opportunities for businesses to thrive, and enhancing the visibility of downtown Colfax as a destination for residents, tourists, and investors alike.

We also collaborate with Placer County representatives, ensuring that our efforts align with regional economic development strategies. By working together with city and county leaders, as well as local business owners, we strive to secure grants, attract investments, and promote tourism, all of which will contribute to the long-term sustainability of downtown Colfax.
