Partnering with Colfax City Leadership

How We Collaborate with the City of Colfax to Achieve Our Downtown Revitalization Goals

At the Historic Colfax Downtown Association, we believe that strong partnerships between local government, businesses, and the community are key to driving the revitalization of our historic downtown. Our efforts are aligned with the vision and policies set forth by the City of Colfax, and together we work to create a thriving, vibrant, and welcoming downtown area that benefits both residents and visitors.

Our Collaborative Efforts Include:

1. Coordinating with the City Council and City Manager

The City Council provides the overall policy direction for the city, approving budgets and major projects that affect downtown. The City Manager oversees day-to-day operations and works closely with us to implement projects that enhance downtown, including infrastructure improvements, beautification projects, and business incentives.

Through our regular communication with the City Manager and City Council, we ensure that our plans for downtown align with the city’s goals. This collaboration helps move projects forward efficiently while securing the necessary approvals and resources.

2. Supporting Public-Private Partnerships

Our Downtown Association plays a critical role in facilitating public-private partnerships. These partnerships allow us to bring together local businesses, investors, and the city to collaborate on projects such as:

  • Revitalizing historic buildings, like the old hotel, which can serve as cornerstones of economic development.
  • Attracting new businesses and supporting existing ones to create a dynamic and prosperous business district.
  • Securing grants and funding to support various downtown initiatives, including public space enhancements and business incentives.

3. Leveraging City Services for Project Success

We work closely with city departments such as Planning Services and the Building Inspector to ensure that all projects meet zoning laws and comply with safety regulations. These relationships are vital for ensuring that development and restoration projects move forward smoothly without unnecessary delays.

Additionally, the City Engineer assists with infrastructure improvements that are crucial for creating a more attractive and accessible downtown, while the City Attorney provides guidance to ensure that contracts and partnerships comply with local laws.

4. Securing and Managing Funding

Through close coordination with the Administrative Services Officer and Finance Director, we ensure that downtown projects are financially sustainable. By tapping into available city budgets, grants, and public-private investments, we secure the funds necessary for revitalization efforts.

5. Engaging the Community

The City Clerk and Customer Service Representative help us maintain open lines of communication with Colfax residents. Through regular city meetings, public events, and outreach initiatives, we keep the community informed and involved in the revitalization process, ensuring that everyone has a voice in the future of downtown.

Our Shared Vision

Together with the City of Colfax, we share the vision of transforming the downtown area into a vibrant hub for commerce, culture, and community life. Our partnership ensures that all efforts align with Colfax’s historic preservation, economic development, and public engagement goals, setting the foundation for long-term success.
